The machine was working fine yesterday, but today the power button won’t work. Also, the last cycle that actually did power up didn’t release the soap, it stayed in the trap.

Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? If so, how expensive would it be to fix?

It needs to be replaced. Unfortunately this is the only part that costs more to fix than it does to replace the whole unit.

I currently have a dishwasher which has a door that matches my kitchen units and it has died!! I am looking for a new Dishwasher and keep seeing built in and integrated and not sure of the difference. Could I buy one with its own door or will have I to have one and use my current kitchen unit door due to housing etc??

Also what is the difference between integrated and fully intergrated. I thought fully integrated was with a kitchen unit door which would make standard integrated the same as built in????

A built-in kitchen appliance, be it a dishwasher or a cooker (for example) is exactly that: It is BUILT IN to fit in with all other kitchen units etc. Where as an INTEGRATED appliance, will have its own kitchen cabinet door fitted to its outside face so as to blend in with its adjoining units, purely for decorative purposes. My advise would be that if you like the look of your dishwasher then why spend a further £100+ to cover it up!? Some kitchen unit doors (due to their construction and materials used) can also interfere with the appliance and its works. If in doubt, leave it out and just simply install a Built in Dishwasher and just allow it to do its job!

Looking for a new dishwasher, have a kenmore that keeps having problem after problem. 1st the heating element doesn’t work, 2nd some dishes are left with a greasy film on them while others are clean, 3rd now the soap dispenser door doesn’t open during the wash cycle. I find the soap still in the cup. Searching for another. We have all other Kenmore appliances, but their Dishwashers don’t seem to be doing so well.

Good question since my wife and I are up against the same issue at this very moment. And myself, being an ex-appliance tech for many years, really knows that the better units cost way too much such as the Kitchenaid or Bosch. So after a lot of reviewing last couple of weeks, Ive narrowed it down to L.G. or Maytag mainly because of their stainless steel tubs, dish rack options and what appears to be a decent pump assembly. I also have been paying attention to the number of washer arm levels (3 and 4) is a good number. as long as they arent in the way of hitting any of the larger dishes or glasses. Last but not least, the control panels are a big issue. I prefer the ones located directly in front instead of on top of the door due to the heavy amount of steam that tends to vent right there causing control failure.

Possible? Yes. But it may be more work than you really want to undertake. It would involve getting under the Dishwasher and disconnecting the water intake hose and the drain hose, then hooking up a hot water hose to the intake and a separate drain hose for the drain. In my opinion, paper plates and plastic silverware may be a better way to go.

I had this pan with serious burnt-on deposits. I put it in the dishwasher. It came out shiny and new.

Made me wonder: what on earth goes on in there? What’s in those little tablets? It must be sulphur and brimstone, sprayed around in the very fires of hell.

So if, hypothetically, I had a body to get rid of, would one go in the Dishwasher do the job? Would it atomise and disappear down the drain, or would I have a nice clean white shiny skeleton for my next problem?

I run a daycare center and we are required to have a dishwasher that reaches temperatures to at least 160 degrees, and it needs to be portable for the amount of space we have. Every website that I look at does not give me the information that I need, does anyone have any suggestions?

What you need is a Dishwasher that has a sanitize cycle and you will have to be sure to use it for every load. Truthfully, I think it’s a bunch of ca ca because dishwasher detergent has chlorine bleach in it for sanitizing purposes.

Just look for the sanitize feature and you should be fine. Double check with the sales person as to how high the temp goes to make sure it hits that 160F mark. Don’t even think about increasing your water temperature to that! You’d have a HUGE scalding risk for anyone washing their hands!
