How to clean major hard water build-up in a NEW dishwasher?
My dishwasher is new. It is 8 months old, has a stainless steel interior (KithenAide). The water here is very hard. There is so much hard-water build-up and I have no idea how to get rid of it. We just put in a water-softener a week ago so should have no further build-up. How do I get rid of what is there?
Vinegar will not be enough for your hard water build-up. I know, because we have super hard water where I live. My plumber recommended a product called Lemi Shine. I got some at Wal-Mart (in the Jet-Dry Dishwasher soap area.) Wow, it really worked. It removed all the build-up. The first time you use it, you should let it sit overnight. (The instructions are at the website below.) After your dishwasher is clean, you can use it regularly by adding it with your dishwasher detergent. It will clean all the white streaks off your drinking glasses. I’m so glad my plumber told me about this, since I had never heard of it before. It really works!
Bosch dishwasher won’t drain - tried everything!?
I have a Bosch Dishwasher model# SHU6802 that won’t drain. The bottom is completely filled with water.
I have cleaned all the three filters, the drain line is unclogged and unkinked and the sink drain is unclogged.
All the hoses/lines/filters are clear of debris but the bottom pan is completely full of water. I have run all settings to no avail. I have to scoop the water out.
It’s not under warranty.
Any ideas of what the problem is? Could it be the pump? Any idea if I can replace it? How much would Bosch charge? Thanks so much!
I work for Sears in their Tech department. That sounds like your drain pump has gone out. Bosch will fix it for you… Im not sure how much they charge. Im looking up the part for your model dishwasher and the pump is $88 (part number is 167082) . You can call Sears at 1-800-469-4663. We will come out and fix it for you. The service charge is usually $55-$65 depending on where you live, and then its the price of the part plus labor. Usually with a dishwasher thats drain pump went out its more cost effective to buy a new one, EXEPT when it comes to Bosch because they are such high end Dishwashers. Hope that was helpful.
How often should I run the dishwasher in a week?
My family consist of 4 adults, My father in law cooks once a day, my mother in law cooks twice a day. My husband and I we cook about 4 times a week. My father in law is the one who is stuck at home all day.
On weekdays all of us eat breakfast and dinner at home, My husband, my mother in law and I bring our lunch in 2 tupperwares.
On weekends its breakfast and dinner only. The only things we use disposable are the plates and forks, the rest (cups, spoons, knives, bowls, spatulas etc) are washable stuff.
The largest pot we use a week is about 6in height, and 12 in diameter.
So with this description, how many times a week should we use our Dishwasher? Thanks!
Since you’re using paper plates and forks, I think every 2-3 days would work, unless you run out of pots, pans and drinking glasses. I only run mine when it’s full, but that’s every other day with my family. Also if the dishes inside start to stink, then run it.
