PostHeaderIcon How do I clear out what I think is broken glass from my Maytag dishwasher?

My Dishwasher makes a clicking & grinding sound when running through the wash cycle. It doesn’t do it all the time & it still washes the dishes well. I did find some broken glass in the dishwasher, and I am guessing a smaller piece is caught somewhere and is causing the noise. Can I remove it or should I wait and see if it works itself out?

You may need a torx screwdriver to remove part of the sump assembly to gain access to the broken glass. T20 and/or T25 should work.

PostHeaderIcon Is it possible to buy a brand new built-in dishwasher and convert it into a portable?

My kitchen is old and does not have a good place to build in a Dishwasher.

This is basically a question about whether the new dishwasher could successfully be bolted into the old cabinet if they are the same size.

Whirlpool makes dishwashers that are already portable. It’s one of the less expensive models with the casters built on & comes with the power cord, drain hose & faucet adapters. They cost more than a built in but it would probably be cheaper than retrofitting one.

PostHeaderIcon Anyone know the standard Sears warranty on a Kenmore dishwasher tub?

I purchased a home where the previous owner (now moved out of the country) remodeled the kitchen and put in all new Sears appliances. The Dishwasher leaked the first time I used it and the repair person said the tub is cracked - probably a factory defect. I don’t know how long the dishwasher set in the house unused before I purchased, but the house was empty for 18 months.

I work for Sears and our standard warranty is one full year from date of purchase unless otherwise stated in the owners manual. Now if you need your manual, get the model number from the dishwashers door frame. It should start with a 665 or 587 and be followed by 6 additional numbers. Once you have that, you can look up your manual on this site:
