Removing hard water build up in Dishwasher?
It is especially apparent on the element on the bottom of the Dishwasher.
Any suggestions on how to get rid of the hard water build up??
I would try running it through the cycle totally empty with just lots of vinegar. It’s not a harsh chemical, but it can remove build up. It’s good to pour a little down your drains, too.
Well in a toilet the way to remove hard water buildup is a plain old pumice stone. So I guess this would work here too, just be gentle when scrubbing the element as you don’t want to damage it! Cascade liquid dishwasher soap is a great one to use to avoid this buildup also. We have hard water too, have tried all the others - especially during budget crunch times. But there’s somethings you just don’t scrimp on & this is one of them, toilet paper is another haha! Seriously it works great & the dishes are always clean. Powdered dishwasher soap clumps & is gross & disgusting to me. Run tang powder thru your machine 1x month to keep it cleaned out & running like new. Remove the cap next to the sink, take off the cover & unscrew the plastic part, cover with a clear glass & run the entire load. This will clear out the build up & gunk & help your machine last years longer. From a former escaped crazy landlady, heehee! Wow lots of dishwasher questions on here tonight! Popular subject! Debimom

Depends on where you live.
There are many products that you put in togethr with your dishdetergent and you never even see any buildup.
========
For rural areas with truly hard water, install your own water softener. Many do.
Then there are products like this one-Lemishine and CLR

get dressed in your Scuba Steve wear, and climb in. just after the wash cycle, but before final rinse, the deposits should be softened up enough to use a hammer and paint scraper. Hope this helps ;^)
