Zanussi Aquasave ZT685 Built In Dishwasher PROBLEM?
No matter what programme I choose on my dishwasher it starts off as normal but stops suddenly after a few minutes. When I open the door there is a pool of water in the bottom and the light above the normal button is flashing quickly. I’ve tried to clean the filter but it hasn’t worked. Any help would be gratefully accepted.
1. The water in the bottom is suppose to be there, it first fills with water (from the home water pressure only) and pools in the bottom, then the pump takes over and uses that water to wash, then the pump pumps out the dirty wash water and it refills with clean water again for the rinse cycle. After the rinse cycle the pump pumps that dirty water out and leaves the bottom empty until the next time you start the machine. It is suppose to stop for a few minutes after filling with water & between cycles too, it all works on a timer, so if it doesn’t start after 5 minutes then there’s a problem somewhere.
2. The problem may be it’s clogged with food particles in the bottom of the dishwasher where the pump draws the water. You should be able to see an opening of some sort for that and I’m guessing that is where the filter/screen is too and you’ve cleaned that already. If the filter/screen is clean it may be the line from that point to the pump that is clogged, believe it or not some tiny food particles get past the filter screen and over time can clog up somewhere else. But that is unlikely to clog the supply line to the pump, but it’s also possible too. It may be a faulty pump, that is a common problem too, the pump goes bad.
3. It could be the control unit for the selector/mode dial has gone bad. It’s all controlled from there, It also has a timer & sometimes the timer part of the control unit goes bad so the Dishwasher will not cycle to the next function.
4. It could also be a relay somewhere, relays are small on/off switches for different things on the machine, such as for the pump to cut on & off, for the valve to open to fill with water, etc.. The control unit sends a signal to the proper relay at the proper time to start or stop a function so it can move on to the next function.
5. Be certain that the door is closed tightly and locked. If the door isn’t closed & locked it will not work. They have a safety switch to stop it for that reason. Also, that safety switch may be bad.
You will most likely need a repairman.
