The machine was working fine yesterday, but today the power button won’t work. Also, the last cycle that actually did power up didn’t release the soap, it stayed in the trap.

Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? If so, how expensive would it be to fix?

It needs to be replaced. Unfortunately this is the only part that costs more to fix than it does to replace the whole unit.
